01 About me

UK‑trained psychoanalytic psychotherapist and counsellor.

I’m Natalia, a UK‑trained psychoanalytic psychotherapist and counsellor, based in Florence and online, working with English‑speaking expatriates and students aged 18 and over.

My way of working is psychoanalytic. I am a Doctor of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy candidate with the University of Exeter, the British Psychotherapy Foundation, and the British Psychoanalytic Council. I am also a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP, Reg. No. 01052549).

As part of my ongoing training and professional development, I meet weekly for supervision with Michael Brearley (OBE), Dr Carlos Tamm Lessa de Sá and Professor Daniel Pick, all of whom are Fellows of the British Psychoanalytic Society and child and adult psychoanalysts. This helps to ensure that the work remains thoughtful, accountable, and well supported.

Alongside my private practice, I also provide counselling in collaboration with James Madison University and Charles Cecil Studios.

02 What is psychoanalytic psychotherapy?

Feelings, thoughts, or relationship patterns.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy looks closely at the patterns we carry from our earliest relationships into our lives today, and uses the relationship between client and therapist to understand and gently change them.

It can be especially helpful if your difficulties feel long‑standing or repetitive: finding yourself in the same unsatisfying relationships, struggling to reach your goals, living with anxiety or low mood that never quite lifts, or feeling unable to fully be yourself or to act spontaneously.

While many therapies focus on a single problem, a recent crisis, or one traumatic event, psychoanalytic work is often aimed at what lies underneath: a deeper sense of dissatisfaction, recurring emotional pain, or a wish to know and understand your inner world more fully.

From the outset, we focus on creating a confidential and trusting space, where thoughts and feelings that have stayed hidden because they feel painful, embarrassing, or weighed down by guilt can begin to be talked about, thought about, and made more understandable together.

Sessions can take place once weekly, or more intensively two or three times a week, which can increase the likelihood of lasting change in areas such as self‑esteem, relationships, sexuality, and mood.

03 How sessions work

How sessions work

We begin with an initial consultation process of three sessions.

Our initial meetings offer a space to explore your situation, clarify what you are seeking, and think together about the most helpful way forward. They also give us both the opportunity to consider whether I am the right therapist to support you.

Therapy asks for your time, commitment, and trust, so it is important that the relationship feels right. The initial consultation process includes one 80‑minute first session, followed by two 50‑minute sessions, at a total cost of €240.

Ongoing sessions
€80 per 50‑minute session

Fees

If we decide to continue working together, we will agree on a regular rhythm of sessions based on your needs. This may be once, twice, or up to three times a week. More frequent sessions can support deeper exploration and may be especially helpful when working with issues such as self‑esteem, relationships, sexuality, and mood.

Sessions are available in person at my studio in Florence or online. I also reserve two reduced‑fee places for those with financial need. I can work with Cigna and CISI insurance.

04 Frequently asked questions

It is very common to feel unsure about whether therapy will help, or whether we will work well together. That is why we begin with three preliminary sessions. These meetings give us time and space to explore your situation gently, without any commitment beyond them. If we find that I am not the right fit, I will be glad to recommend a colleague who might be.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a Doctor of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy candidate with the University of Exeter, the British Psychotherapy Foundation, and the British Psychoanalytic Council. My work is held within a careful framework of professional supervision and ethical practice. I meet weekly for supervision with Michael Brearley (OBE), Dr Carlos Tamm Lessa de Sá and Professor Daniel Pick, Fellows of the British Psychoanalytic Society, to help ensure that the work remains thoughtful, accountable, and well supported.

Yes. Everything you bring to our sessions is treated as confidential. The only exception is if there is a serious risk to your life or to the safety of someone else. In that situation, I would consult with a psychiatrist to make sure appropriate support is in place, and I would discuss this with you before taking any action.

Regularity matters in this kind of work, but life does sometimes get in the way. If you cannot attend a scheduled session, I will do my best to offer another time within the same week, although I cannot always guarantee availability.

The initial consultation process includes one 80‑minute first session, followed by two 50‑minute sessions, at a total cost of €240. If we decide to continue working together, each ongoing session costs €80. Sessions take place in person at my studio in Florence, or online. I also keep two spaces available at a reduced fee, depending on financial circumstances, and I am able to work with Cigna and CISI insurance.
